Online group lessons Sogetsu program
For students committed to learning ikebana but not having access to local teachers there is a possibility to get on-line training following Sogetsu curriculum. Upon successful completion of each level you could apply for an official Sogetsu certificate from Japan.
Currently offered levels: Sogetsu books 1-5, Teacher’s training grade 4,3 & 2.
Lessons are given over live video in Zoom on a mobile device.
Prices: 1 lesson 27 Euro, package of 10 lessons 220 Euro. All prices include 21% VAT.

The classes are conducted in Zoom – a user friendly, free online platform. I can assist with getting you onboarded to Zoom if necessary.
We have small groups of about 6 people with individual feedback for each participant.

Online course: Nageire Boot Camp
An intense course focused on the Nageire fixation techniques. The goal is to:
- Improve confidence using vertical and cross bar fixation
- Diagnose where current issues with Nageire techniques come from and address them
- Learn additional techniques that could add variety to your free style Nageire arrangments
- Help teachers who struggle with teaching Nageire
Who is it for? Sogetsu students and teachers who want to find joy in mastering Nageire.
There are 2 formats available:
- Group format – 5 weekly zoom calls, recorded video lessons, individual feedback on assignments and chat support. Fee 195 Euro. To be notified when the next course is planned please email ekaterina@ikebanaweb.com, you will be added to the waiting list.

In person group lessons in my studio in Grimbergen (Belgium)
We follow Sogetsu student curriculum. Lesson duration is about 1,5 hours.
Location: Grimbergen, Belgium.
Languages: The main language of the course is English. Individual explanations and clarifications could be given in Russian, German, French or Dutch.

Individual coaching
Individual coaching is typically requested for a specific purpose:
- preparation for an exhibition,
- making offers for clients,
- commercial arrangements,
- review of designs,
- finding technical solutions for challenging artistic ideas situations etc.
It is preferable to meet in person for coaching sessions. However, on-line consultation using video collaboration tools (Skype, Facetime etc.) sometimes are suitable depending on the purpose of the consultation.
Typically students find that coaching sessions help them build confidence, give necessary support and reassurance. This is often critical for advanced students who are starting their own independent way in the ikebana world.
In a typical coaching sessions we would go over your design choices. Evaluate how they fit with the exhibition venue. We’d narrow down material selection depending on the duration of the display, season, budget and ease of maintenance, which is especially important for longer expositions.
We also discuss such important aspects as lighting, direction of the flow of viewers, expected number of people, distance, from which the arrangement is likely to be viewed, access (for example whether there is a risk of children touching your arrangement) etc.
If it is your individual exhibition or commercial work, we will go over a checklist for installation, maintenance, removal, disposal, insurance coverage and many more important details.
Price per hour: 38 Euro.
Coaching package of 3 sessions of 1 hour: 97 Euro.
Online ikebana courses for beginners
This is an introduction mini-course that consists of 3 lessons. We will learn creating a Basic Upright style arrangement.
In the process of creating ikebana arrangements we will pay attention to fragrances, textures, colors of the plant material. The ultimate goal of the peaceful, meditative ikebana practice is to reestablish ones connection with nature through contact with flowers.
In the course we will also talk about history of ikebana and the Japanese roots of this art originated out of the Buddhist tradition of flower offering.
The price for the course is 90 Euro or 90 USD.
